01 / THE PROJECT BRIEF

The challenge

Aravind Drop Taxi is a premium drop taxi service that needs more than a website displaying services and contact details. Customers need a straightforward way to search for a one-way journey, understand the approximate cost and contact the team with their trip requirements. For example, a customer travelling from Chennai to Trichy should be able to select both locations and check an estimated fare. The calculation also needs to account for different vehicle types and additional charges for hill-station routes. The business has an established contact network of over 500 drivers. The website will help customers explore their journey, check an estimated fare and contact the team.

02 / THE DEVELOPMENT APPROACH

A clear customer journey

The website is being designed around a simple customer journey, from planning a route to making an enquiry. Customers will select pickup and drop locations within the supported service area. A maps API will help identify locations and calculate driving distance. The website will use that distance, the selected vehicle type and configured pricing rules to display an approximate fare, including applicable hill-station surcharges. Customers can then continue to WhatsApp to discuss and confirm trip details with the team. The estimate is not a confirmed booking or final fare.

03 / PLANNED FEATURES

What the website will include

  • Pickup and drop location search within supported service areas
  • Maps API integration for route and driving-distance calculation
  • Vehicle selection and approximate fare calculation
  • Configurable pricing rules, including hill-station surcharges
  • WhatsApp contact with the selected trip details
  • Responsive interface for mobile and desktop
04 / DEVELOPMENT & VALIDATION

What needs to work well

Development focuses on making the website clear and easy to use. Before launch, testing will cover location selection, route calculations, vehicle pricing, hill-station surcharges and transfer of trip details to WhatsApp. The goal is to help customers understand their estimated travel cost and send relevant trip details to the team. Customer engagement and enquiry outcomes will be evaluated after launch.
